Toom Baumarkt, one of the largest, leading DIY stores in Germany, asked us in 2013 to help think about a better outdoor presentation of their range of plants. Besides better sales, it was also a requirement to maintain the quality of the plants, as too much was being thrown away due to too low a turnover rate, combined with weather conditions and non-optimal watering.

In terms of presentation, we started with our Horti-Display, a simple but solid piece of furniture based on a Danish cart. It folds out for better presentation and accessibility of the plants for the customer.

The roof, which is entirely in the house style, limits the influence of weather conditions, such as hard rain and bright midday sun. Fitting the plates on the Horti-Display with a Water Tray optimises the moisture supply around the plant, resulting in less spoilage.

Over the years, the range of plants has expanded considerably and the goals have been achieved:

Better presentation and sales, with significantly less waste and a much nicer experience for the customer.

Of course, this does not mean that we sit back together, we are constantly looking for improvements!

In the "what can you do with a Danish trolley" category, then we cannot and should not ignore the Basement Chefs: Besides creativity in the kitchen, this team certainly possesses creativity in the workshop. After buying a good quality trolley with the right wheels and uprights, they build the trolleys exactly as they want. Each trolley has a specific purpose and is also used exclusively for that purpose. While this of course also takes time and energy, it is disproportionate to buying an off-the-shelf solution, which often falls just short.

Welkoop, a Dutch chain with more than 150 branches, is known for their high-quality, wide range of plants. For many years, we have been working together on ideas for a more attractive and stimulating environment to present these products.

Thanks to the short lines of communication, we can switch quickly and this leads to one or more presentation furniture or POS solutions every year. Very often, these new products are created with a simple sketch on the shop floor.

Examples include banners, various price tag holders, complete Pallet-POS holders and our fully galvanised, storm-proof pavement sign.

Horti-Innovations develops products not only for, but together with customers. The good cooperation with Welkoop is a good example of this.

One of the Netherlands' leading DIY stores, Praxis, has also been selling an increasing volume of bedding plants, summer annuals and perennials for years. And here too, our Horti-Display, with the roof in house style, offers added value in terms of presentation and thus more sales, plus a better quality plant both at the time of sale and ultimately in the customer's home.

We found another great example of the Danish trolley as a presentation tool at a Kippie shop: a trolley with (empty) Kippie pans with a Horti-Roof, one of the roof systems in our range, on top. The cart is fitted with our sturdy, hygienic plastic sheets. These sheets have a greater load-bearing capacity, are washable and the smooth surface means bacteria and fungi have no chance of settling in.

After taking over the Deen formula, Albert Heijn was looking for furniture for the outdoor presentation of its plants and flowers. As the assortment varies considerably throughout the season, a flexible, modular solution was a requirement. It was also very important that the mobile trolleys could be moved silently ( this happens very early every day, and therefore has to be done quietly) and the trolleys had to be fitted with a braking system. Both the Horti-Display and the Horti-Fllower were used for this purpose, with our noiseless and vibration-free Type 4 wheels underneath. The trolleys are fixed in place by our ronuust brake for Danish trolleys.
